Durham School for Ballet & the Performing Arts
608 N Duke Street, Durham
Durham Ballet Theatre is hosting an exciting two-week summer intensive. The goal of this intensive is to build a new choreographic work based on old Russian fairy tales appropriate for the Halloween season with Canadian choreographer Mark Godden, to be produced in October 2019. This is an amazing opportunity to dance in an original work from an internationally known choreographer.
“Mark Godden’s vast experience in both theatre and dance — combined with his gifted teaching abilities — awakens students to new movement possibilities and arms them to meet the myriad expectations of our profession.” — Gordon Wright, Director, The HARID Conservatory
The two week intensive, which runs June 17 – June 21 and June 24 – 29, 2019, will focus on ballet, pointe and contemporary technique as well as conditioning, and will culminate in a workshop of the piece on the final Saturday.
In order to participate in the summer intensive, the performer must commit to rehearsals on Saturday and/or Sunday afternoons September & October and participate in tech week to prepare for performance.
This opportunity is open to ages 10 & up. Students must have a foundation in ballet and currently be at or above beginning/ intermediate level with a working vocabulary of ballet terminology.
