STORIES OF IMPACT

Jennifer Crichlow, DBT Board Member & Parent

"DBT isn’t just about dance; it’s a learning environment. Performers learn choreography, how to interact on stage, sell tickets, manage costumes, and design sets. I’ve witnessed dancers grow in confidence and skill, seen adults take the stage who never imagined they could perform, and watched parents create stunning boutique items while grandparents volunteer their time to sew costumes. The spirit of community and dedication at DBT is inspiring, but it also requires our support– both financial and volunteer.  Together we can ensure this wonderful organization continues to thrive and shape future performers."

FUNDING SOURCES

How do we pay for our programs?

Durham Ballet Theatre programs are partially funded through ticket sales, performance fees, and grants, but we thrive because of supporters like you. Direct donations are a vitally important part of DBT.

In prior years 17% of our funds was received from grants. Our current budget expects only 5% of funding to come from grants. In order to keep the costs of performing low for the performers we are looking to increase our direct donations to 62% in the upcoming season.

Unfortunately, in the current economic and political climate, grants available to arts organizations like ours are seeing more competition for decreasing amounts. That means our success relies in greater proportion on generous one-time or sustained donations from individuals, families, and corporate sponsors.

Please consider a donation toward our $30,000 goal today!
